Tuesday was a big day for Democrats, gaining the majority in the House and possibly the Senate. Many have attributed their sweeping wins to growing discontent over the war in Iraq. The first news out of the White House this morning seemed to support that fact with the resignation of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

Why did he choose to leave office the day after the mid-term elections? Timothy Sexton offers his opinion in Donald “Cut and Run” Rumsfailed Resigns: A Chickenhawk to the End.
